Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Kanonkop – Magnum

£72.00 per bottle

About this wine

Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a classic Simonsberg Cabernet, exuding a sense of coolness in its character despite the warm vintage conditions of 2016.  A perfumed nose filled with notes of blackcurrants, fennel, cigar box, tea leaf and “fynbos” shrub.  The palate is delicate and fresh, with an austere old-world charm about it.  Grainy tannins compliment the earthy profile, with subtle hints of liquorice on the lengthy finish.

Food Pairing: The perfect partner to steak, slow-cooked venison, braised beef short ribs, rosemary lamb shanks and matured hard cheeses

Ageing potential: This wine will benefit from further bottle ageing for up to 10 – 15 years from vintage.

string(589) "One of the most ubiquitous grape varieties in the world; Cabernet Sauvignon. Together with Pinot Noir it vies for the crown of greatest red variety in the world. So multifaceted and so adaptable, it is as happy in the Pauillac vineyards of Château Latour as it is in the high altitude vineyards of the Andes. So suited to oak and with a firm tannic backbone, it is very often utilised as part of a blend. Though Bordeaux is its natural home, it has spread through the wine world, finding notable homes in Stellenbosch, Coonawarra, Langhorne Creek and the Barossa Valley to name but a few."
