Grapes for the Mullineux Granite Syrah is sourced from a single parcel of 24 year old dry land, bush vines grown in the decomposed granite of the Paardeberg. This is the parcel of Syrah that gives the best expression of the Paardeberg’s terroir – freshness and perfume. This violet-perfumed Syrah is the most elegant of the Mullineux single-terroir Syrah’s. The palate is medium to full bodied and delicately spicy, with a silky texture balanced by a fresh, natural acidity. The 2017 vintage has a floral, spicy, cranberry nose and a tight, fresh structure with a silky texture. The palate has notes of succulent berries and delicate herbs and spices.
Serving suggestion: Best served at 16 to 18 °C
Ageing potential: 15 – 25 years. This wine will greatly benefit from decanting if drunk within the first 3 to 5 years after bottling.

Here in the Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale it produces wines of great density and richness. In South Africa there tends to be more structure and freshness with earthy tannins. It is a variety which alters in the bottle very much as a result of the individual winemaker’s philosophy, as well as reflecting the unique terroir of the estates. Great with oak, it offers lavender, kirsch, black cherry and cured meat aromas and flavours. In its native Northern Rhône it is famous for the wines of Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie, whilst in the New World can lay claim to providing Australia with its two most famous wines; Henschke’s Hill of Grace and Penfold’s Grange."
