Rolf Binder’s answer to Châteauneuf-du-Pape! A classic Rhone blend and a tribute to Rolf’s father, Rolf Heinrich Binder. Old vine Shiraz, Mataro (Mourvèdre) and Grenache combine to offer power and grace. Each variety adds its individual talents with nuances of chocolate, raspberry, beef stockpot and a berry fruit sweetness. The finish is dry and the flavours linger on the palate with subtle oak and tannin adding to the fruit characters.
Ageing potential: Being a more full bodied release, this wine could be enjoyed until 2026
“The split of 64/19/17 has melded into a harmonious whole with its seasoning of red licorice, pepper and baking spices coating red-black cherry accented fruit. Fresh and lively, yet full-bodied with some new oak adding weight and clove-sweet flavour, not too much, as this has a lot of savoury drive and tannic grip on the finish. Drink to 2024.” 93 points, James Halliday Wine Companion 2019
