The Stanley Lagrein 2017 is a quality, fruit driven wine, with a palate of Black Morello cherries, red plums, hints of liquorice, tobacco, leather and vanilla. Soft on the nose, the effect of the oak maturation is subtle and noticeable, giving the wine balance, depth and structure with strong silky tannins and a spicy finish.
This is New Zealand’s first Lagrein wine. Lagrein is an Italian variety originally from the Alto Adige region of Trentino, in the foothills of the Italian tyrol. There it is grown at altitudes of 700-100m above sea level. It makes rich, fruit driven wines.
Food pairing: Medium to full bodied, this wine is a great match with beef, veal and lamb dishes, Tapas such as chorizo, patatas bravas, pimiento asadas, or can be drunk for pleasure!
