Phoenix Limited Release 2015, Buitenverwachting

The limited release Buitenverwachting Phoenix 2015, like its namesake, rose out of the ashes to be transformed into a beautiful wine. In 2015 devastating wildfires engulfed most of Muizenberg Mountain and burnt many of the vineyards that were situated at the foot of the slopes.  Instead of admitting defeat the Winemakers at Buitenverwachting decided to make a wine from the remaining fruit, and how the Phoenix was born.  Made from 100% Petit Verdot, this is a dark, rich and elegant full-bodied wine with depths of flavour and length. A wonderful silky textured palate with lots of juicy of dark berries, cedar wood, liquorice and strong tannins.
