Rocking Horse is Thorne and Daughters cornerstone wine and takes its name from a wooden rocking horse that was made for John and Tasha Seccombe’s daughter out of old oak barrel staves. Rocking Horse is Thorne and Daughters signature wine and it is where all the work comes together to make their most complete wine. The wine is composed from a number of carefully selected vineyard sites in the Western Cape made up of 35% Semillon Blanc from Franschhoek, 28% Roussanne from Stellenbosch / Paardeberg, 16% Chardonnay from the Ceres Palteau, 15% Chenin Blanc from Paardeberg and 6% Clairette Blanche from the Swartland. Notes of hay, wild honey and nut brittle aromas on the nose lead into a rounded, intense palate of honeybush, yellow plums and a subtle gun flint smokiness with a long full bodied finish.
