Seven Flags Pinot Noir 2017, Paul Cluver Wines

£52.00 per bottle

About this wine

Paul Cluver’s winemaker, Andries Burger believes that the essence of a great Pinot noir is the purity of fruit and balanced acidity which gives structure to the wine. The Seven Flags Pinot Noir has this essence, substantiated by its natural acidity. The 2017 vintage is a very well defined wine with amazing poise, the colour is bright red, alluring and luminous. The aroma of this wine has wonderful elegant red and dark berry fruit expression ending with lovely soft oak notes. The palate is a combination of firm concentration and freshness. These flavours follow through onto the palate with some salivating savoury notes that has amazing length and complexity with great freshness lifting the fruit.

Food pairing: The natural acidity makes it a perfect partner with a diversity of dishes. Game fish, game birds and venison work very well, as does grilled beef and strong, hard cheese.

string(578) "If Cabernet Sauvignon is the king of wines then Pinot Noir is the wine of kings. So delicate, pure, feminine and graceful, it is arguably the finest variety in the world, responsible for the great wines of Champagne and Burgundy. Temperamental, yes, and difficult to cultivate, but can any other grape offer such dimensions of flavour or intellectual gratification? I would struggle to find one stronger! Summer berry compote flavours, with redcurrant and pink petal aromas, it is often pale in the glass, yet can offer depth and vigour simply unachievable from any other grape."
