Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Rust en Vrede

£82.75 per bottle

About this wine

The epitome of the Helderberg and what it means for Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, show in the 2016 Rust en Vrede Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.  Decidedly dense black fruit, such as brambles and blackcurrant combine effortlessly with tobacco, forest floor, graphite and smokiness on the nose and palate.  It is a muscular wine where the concentration of the Cabernet Sauvignon fruit matches the tannin and spice brought on by the skins and oak.  A complex and moreish wine that finishes firm and fresh.

Only 3020 bottles were produced of this Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede is proud to be part of a remarkable three hundred year old wine tradition. Since 1977 the Engelbrecht family has specialized in the exclusive production of red wine, with the focus on Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Ageing Potential: 10 to 15 years

Serving temperature: 14 to 16° Celsius.

string(589) "One of the most ubiquitous grape varieties in the world; Cabernet Sauvignon. Together with Pinot Noir it vies for the crown of greatest red variety in the world. So multifaceted and so adaptable, it is as happy in the Pauillac vineyards of Château Latour as it is in the high altitude vineyards of the Andes. So suited to oak and with a firm tannic backbone, it is very often utilised as part of a blend. Though Bordeaux is its natural home, it has spread through the wine world, finding notable homes in Stellenbosch, Coonawarra, Langhorne Creek and the Barossa Valley to name but a few."
