Since 2001, Guardian Peak SMG is a classic blend of Rhone varieties (the 2019 vintage is a blend of 59% Syrah, 29% Mourvèdre and 12% Grenache) and expresses perfectly how formidable yet uncomplicated this style of wine can be. Expressive floral aromas of hibiscus combine with bright, fruity notes of cranberry and blueberry with Cajun spice. Seamless with supple tannins, fresh acidity and layers of flavours. The complexity is intriguing – floral notes with chilli chocolate, bramble, tobacco, cigarbox and vanilla. A focussed, elegant wine with good length.
