Ladybird Vineyards (previously known as Laibach Vineyards) Sur Lie Chenin Blanc 2020 displays a very exotic nose with tropical, papaya and white peach in abundance. On the velvety rich palate a lovely mineral character combines with the ripe tropical and stone fruits, very long and balanced with a fresh lemon and lime like acidity. It begs to be opened, but this wine will age gracefully and got enough structure and complexity to last 6 – 10 years.
This wine is made from the oldest vineyard on the farm. No additives were used and fermentation was done 50% in old barrels, 25% in concrete eggs and 25% in stainless steel. The resulting wine is a refreshing colour with an orangey tint.
Ageing potential: 10 years from vintage
Food pairing: Shellfish, Thai food or fish dishes such as pan fried seabass or hake.
Alcohol: 13.78% ABV

string(526) "Vouvray, Savennières and Montlouis are villages in France famous for their superb expressions of Chenin Blanc. Add to this list Stellenbosch in South Africa and the picture is complete. A waxy, citrus and cream styled white variety with stunning acidity and natural balance, it can produce deeply-flavoured wines from dry through to botrytis-affected sweet styles. It is a natural in every sense and in the hands of the greatest growers in South Africa shows the shimmering potential of the Rainbow Nation on the world stage."
