Ladybird Vineyards Organic Red is named in tribute to the Ladybirds that combat the presence of the mealybug and protect the vines, they used to be bought and released by the winery, but now after 14 years, the cycle goes naturally and there are enough around. These little creatures are a remarkable deterrent and avoid the need for the use of pesticides to eradicate pests. This wine is a Bordeaux influenced blend, and has a complex nose with hints of spice, chocolate and mocha. Good structure with plum and mineral complexity and a lingering finish. Showing graceful elegance, this wine over delivers on quality and showcases this estate as one of the leading lights in South Africa. The 2017 blend is made up of A blend of 55% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec
