Description
The Ernie Els Major Series Merlot 2018, is rich, plummy and shows luscious dark cherry from the start; balanced by notes of pipe tobacco, fresh tilled earth, and an elegant, herbaceous tone, including buchu and bay leaf. The palate follows, full of rounded, rich, fruit flavours and chewy, dense tannins, with a chalky and dry end. It shows the density of the vintage, balancing approachable fruit with a serious tannin undercarriage and etched granitic focus to the long finish. Aged for 14 months in French Oak Barrels, this is a medium bodied Merlot with good complexity.
Ageing potential: The 2018 vintage will evolve five to eight years in the bottle.
Alcohol: 14.5% ABV
