Bouchard Finlayson Missionvale Chardonnay 2018 very classy wine with nicely judged oak that adds vanilla spice to the tropical fruit and toffee apple flavours. Perfectly poised with crisp acidity and an elegant, long finish.
A perfect expression of the Henel-en-Aarde terroir, the Missionvale Chardonnay is produced exclusively from grapes grown and harvested on the estate, taking advantage of the valley’s cool maritime climate to produce a Chardonnay that balances textbook minerality and citrus notes on a foundation of well-integrated oak richness. Fermented and aged in both oak barrels and terracotta amphorae, it’s a fine example of the ongoing innovation in the Bouchard Finlayson cellar.
The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and its associated terroir has proven itself to be one of the Cape’s most treasured Chardonnay locations. The name Missionvale stems from the mission hospital established on the domain property in the early 19th Century. All grapes are harvested from this Estate to create one of the finest Chardonnays.
Food pairing: Rich poultry including game birds, fish and pasta dishes. Also pairs with soft cheeses.
