The Greystone Organic Sauvignon Blanc 2020 is a wild and barrel fermented style Sauvignon Blanc with a generous palate of luscious fruits, a creamy texture and defined finish. The Greystone Organic Sauvignon Blanc is a truly unique style of Sauvignon Blanc for New Zealand, produced from two rare clones of Sauvignon Blanc (376 and 530 ), originally taken from the Loire Valley. This is very different from the rest of New Zealand, which generally uses a singular Bordeaux clone. These vines produce much smaller bunches with golden coloured grapes – the Bordeaux tends to a heavier bunch size and more green tinged. These grapes produce beautiful fruit flavours of golden kiwifruit, mango, ripe pineapple and guava.
Ageing potential: Unlike most NZ Sauvignon this wine actually benefits from further aging. As it ages the primary fruit flavours lessen and you tend to get more aromas of crushed oyster shell and flint. Best drunk now – 2025.
Food pairing: We love this wine with rich seafood- particularly crayfish, salmon, scallops or prawns.

Cameron Douglas MS – 93 points / Excellent ‘Many of the classic aromas of this variety are immediately recognisable with fresh white and yellow stone fruits, apple and citrus, but with this expression there’s more focus on minerality and less on the herbaceous drive that might come from vineyards further south. There’s also a smooth calm complexity through the bouquet. Crisp and fresh, salivating and dry on the palate. Many of the flavours from the bouquet repeat especially ripe lemon and grapefruit, apple and just a whisper of tropical fruit. Youthful and fresh with plenty of acidity, but also balanced, even and elegant across the palate. Well made with a lengthy finish. Best drinking from day of purchase and through 2025.’
