The Meerlust Red 2015 is a blend of 60% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. The baby sister / brother of South Africa’s most famed grand Bordeaux-blend – the Meerlust Rubicon, the 2015 Meerlust Red is an outstanding vintage and exceptional value for money. Full bodied with intense crushed black fruit, cassis, vanilla, dark chocolate and cream, it is an intense, plush and exotic wine with freshness and elegance and the overall feel of the wine is that of a cooler climate wine rather than a warm fruit bomb.
Food pairing: The wine has a persistent and long-lasting aftertaste and pairs well with venison, game, pot roast and noble cheeses.
Ageing potential: 10-12 years from vintage date under ideal cellar conditions
