Kaapzicht’s Steytler Vision is a blend of 56% Pinotage, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. First made in 2000, the ‘Steytler Vision’ is Kaapzicht’s unique Cape Blend where the Cabernet Sauvignon exudes power, length and structure while the endemic Pinotage creates a uniquely South African feel and the gentle Merlot fruit binds it all together. The three cultivars were vinified and aged separately in small French oak barrels for 20 months, personally selected by the winemaker and then blended together. The aptly named Steytler Vision is the realization of Danie Senior’s innovation and craftsmanship. The wine displays generous cassis and black berries as well as vanilla and spice from the oak. A complex and multi-dimensional wine – this is an exceptional Stellenbosch red. Those who can resist the temptation will be rewarded well with cellaring.
Ageing Potential: 10- 15 years maturation should greatly reward with complexity and elegance.
Food Match: Delicious matched with slow-roasted rosemary lamb.
