Description

The Bird in Hand Tasmanian Series is a limited release, crafted to harness the cool-climate terroir and produce wines of distinct character and elegance. It is an ode to winemaking in the rugged wilderness of Australia’s final frontier.

Grapes were sourced from a low yielding block in the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania. This unique site is renowned for its cool climate and well drained soils, resulting in concentrated fruit expression of Pinot Noir with power and finesse.

The grapes were handpicked and meticulously sorted to ensure maximum quality. During fermentation, careful cap management led to a fuller-bodied, more structured profile, while the inclusion of whole bunches imparted subtle complexity and spice to the blend. The wine was then matured for 6 months in a combination of old and new French oak barrels, enhancing its depth, complexity, and overall character.

Aromas of black cherries and plums, with dry herbs and hints of cedar and vanilla spice. On the palate, the wine is rich and smooth, with dark fruit, and well-integrated oak flavours. Velvety tannins and lively acidity provide balance, leading to a long, satisfying finish.

Cellaring will reward the discerning collector.
