Bird in Hand Chardonnay 2022 is pale straw in colour, on the nose the wine is nuanced and complex, evoking intense white peach, honey spice and subtle hazelnut aromas. On the palate, this Chardonnay showcases intense flavours of fleshy nectarine, toasted cashew, and subtle oak spice, with a creamy texture and precise acid that gives persistence.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine were hand-picked in the cool early morning from Bird in Hand’s vineyard at Woodside, as well as other premium blocks in Mt Torrens, and Woodside. Grapes were carefully sorted, before being whole bunched pressed directly into French oak barrels. Barrels spent 9 months on their yeast lees prior to selective blending by the winemaking team. The 2022 Bird in Hand Chardonnay consists of 40% new oak from premium tight grained French oak with the balance from barrels 1 – 4 years old.
