Waterford Estate Kevin Arnold Shiraz 2018 shows aromatics of delicate violets, dark plum fruits and liquorice notes which has layered subtle notes of earthiness and leather spice, brought in by the 4% Mourvedre component. The palate follows the aromatics of the nose with similar violet and earthy spice notes. The wine shows generosity for a vintage which is known for more elegant and finely textured wines. The tannins presented are soft and granular with a fruit-forward finish due to the use of strictly older barrels for ageing.
The 2018 vintage is named after Ashleigh Anne, Jeremy and Leigh Ord’s oldest daughter.
Food pairing: Pairs well with lean red meats, such as venison, as well as a variety of earthy components.

It is a variety which alters in the bottle very much as a result of the individual winemaker’s philosophy, as well as reflecting the unique terroir of the estates. Great with oak, it offers lavender, kirsch, black cherry and cured meat aromas and flavours. In its native Northern Rhône it is famous for the wines of Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie, whilst in the New World can lay claim to providing Australia with its two most famous wines; Henschke’s Hill of Grace and Penfold’s Grange."
