Description
The grapes for Noon’s Reserve Shiraz have been sourced from the same vineyard (the 1.6 hectare ‘20 Rows’ block in Langhorne Creek owned by the Borrett family) since the first Reserve Shiraz in 1997. One of the single greatest expressions of Shiraz made in the world, the Noon Reserve Shiraz is a full-bodied, generously-flavoured wine which demands time in bottle to really show its true colours. The demand for these outstanding and rare bottles always exceeds supply. Frontier Fine Wines are extremely honoured to recieve a direct allocation direct from Drew and Raegan Noon.
The 2017 Reserve Shiraz has a very intriguing, complex aroma of molasses, green tea, fresh earth and blueberries. It smells kind of sweet and earthy which is very attractive. It presents a big mouthful of flavour, being notably soft and generous and yet still managing to finish firm and balanced; a lovely combination. A large scale, complex tasting wine. Drink at anytime over the next 10 years or more; it’s perfect with a slow cooked beef daube.
Wine Advocate Rating: 94 points “Sourced from the same block of Langhorne Creek vines as it has always been, the 2017 Reserve Shiraz boasts intense aromas of menthol-eucalyptus and dark plums. Aged in 30% to 40% new French and American oak, the fruit has easily soaked up any oak flavor, leaving a full-bodied wine that’s loaded with black cherries, mulberries and plums. The texture is lush and creamy, the finish long and smoothly lingering, with hints of licorice and dark chocolate. It’s a big but incredibly suave and sexy offering that carries its ample alcohol (labeled at 15.9%) amazingly well.”
