Description
Bird in Hand TED Chardonnay 2021 is pale yellow, subtle, complex and multifaceted. TED is the name given to an elite wine made to honour the founder’s son, Edward Andrew Nugent. 2021 was an exceptional vintage for Chardonnay with a long and even ripening period.
This single vineyard Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed directly to French oak barriques, ensuring the most pristine quality fruit was selected for the Tribute Series label. The wine underwent 100% wild fermentation and the barrels left to mature for 10 months on lees.
On the nose, the wine displays complex and intense characteristics of baked pastry, grilled nuts, rockmelon and yellow peaches. Nectarine, cashew and poached pear linger on the palate with lively acidity and a long finish.
Finely crafted to create an intensely flavoured Chardonnay, the palate has a nuanced and delicate mouth feel with restrained oak. Length of flavour, a hallmark of this wine and this vintage.
