Rustenberg
Truly the grandees of the South African wine industry; Rustenberg is positioned on the slopes of the Simonsberg and there is little doubt that not only is it one of the most beautiful estates in the Cape, but it is also one of South Africa’s ‘first growths’. Vineyards have been growing on the farm since 1682 when German Roelof Pasman started his farm here. His grandson Pieter Laubscher inherited Rustenberg at the age of 19 and ensured that the wine production doubled. After changing hands, Peter and Pamela Barlow bought the farm in 1941 and the modern era was born. Rustenberg produces classic Stellenbosch reds and whites which offer depth, interest and a great sense of place.
