Ladybird Vineyards Organic Red is named in tribute to the Ladybirds that combat the presence of the mealybug and protect the vines, they used to be bought and released by the winery, but now after 14 years, the cycle goes naturally and there are enough around. These little creatures are a remarkable deterrent and avoid the need for the use of pesticides to eradicate pests.
The 2018 vintage is a classic blend of noble Bordeaux varieties (47% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 11% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec), crafted from dry land low yielding Organic Vineyards in Stellenbosch. Full bodied with lovely tannins, exceptional fruit and a long lingering finish. Complex, structured and age worthy. Showing graceful elegance, this wine over delivers on quality and showcases this estate as one of the leading lights in South Africa.
Ageing potential: Enjoy 4 – 15 years after harvest.
Food pairing: Try with beef steak, braised beef short ribs, lamb shank and gourmet burgers.
Alcohol: 14.19% ABV
